On April 9th, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced updates made to the eForms system concerning a rendering issue affecting a number of FERC Form No. 1 filers.
Certain FERC Form No. 1 filers with hydroelectric operations may have issues with the rendering of Page 408 - Pumped Storage Generating Plant Statistics when they do not actually have pumped storage assets to report. FERC staff expressed that some filers saw Water for Power (Account 536) values appear on Page 408 even though their instance files did not include the pumped‑storage dimension, meaning the data should not have shown up at all.
To resolve this issue, staff has corrected the rendering code in Version 2025‑04‑01. Filers who would like to duplicate this correction in their own pre‑submission rendering environments may update the Page 408 template in the 2026-04-01 taxonomy package: (`..\RenderingTemplates_Form1\templates\t79\t79-template.html`[see file lines 208 and 211]). The if-else statements at lines 208 and 211 now include the additional term `and not($plant == none)`, and non‑dimensional Water for Power values no longer erroneously appear in the schedule.
Filers should be aware that this issue may affect renderings of FERC Form No. 1 that were made prior to this correction. FERC staff notes that this does not cause any error in the official data filed with the FERC’s eForms database and does not indicate any error in the instance files themselves. Impacted filers may choose to refile affected instance files to re-render their submissions, but FERC staff cannot re-render a previous filing.
