CEF Tagging Guide Now Available for Download
In April 2020, the SEC adopted rules in its Release 33-10771 that revised the registration, communications, and offering processes for closed-end investment companies (CEFs) and business development companies (BDCs) under the Securities Act of 1933. In addition to introducing new XML-based Form 24F-2, CEF and BDC entities will now be required to tag financial reporting information in a structured data format in their submissions to the EDGAR system. As the deadline for this change approaches, Novaworks has created a free guide to aid companies in creating their first structured data reports.

Office of Public Participation to Host Webinar on How to File Comments and Participate in FERC Matters

SEC Announces Next Meeting of the Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee

SEC Announces Proposed Amendments to Shareholder Proposal Rule
On July 13th, the SEC announced that it is proposing updates to Exchange Act Rule 14a-8, the shareholder proposal rule under which companies that are subject to the federal proxy rules must include shareholder proposals in their proxy statements, subject to certain procedural and substantive requirements.

XBRL US to Host Webinar: Tools and Techniques for the XBRL Data Pipeline

New Release (5.15b) for the GoFiler Family of Products
Version 5.15b of all applications in the GoFiler Suite has been released. This release contains support for the VIP2022 taxonomy as well as corrections and improvements for XDX, iXBRL, and for Form ATS-N. Additional forms are now supported for the browser plug-in to automate EDGAR for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

SEC Staff to Hold Open Meeting to Discuss Proxy Voting Advice and Shareholder Proposals
The SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance will hold a meeting via webcast on sec.gov to discuss and consider whether to adopt amendments to the proxy rules governing proxy voting advice. FASB Announces Release of Proposed 2022 Q3 Supplemental GAAP Taxonomy for Public Review and Comment
The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has released the Proposed 2022 Q3 Supplemental GAAP Taxonomy for public review and comment. The publication introduces enhancements to the GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy and the SEC Reporting Taxonomy, collectively known as the GAAP Taxonomy.

FASB Releases ASU to Improve Fair Value Guidance for Equity Securities
On June 30th, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) published an Accounting Standards Update (ASU) that improves financial reporting for investors and other financial statement users. The ASU is designed to enhance comparability of financial information for all reporting entities with investments in equity securities measured at fair value and are subject to contractual restrictions preventing the sale of those securities.

Filings with a due date of July 4 will be due the following business day.
