SEC Staff to Discuss Investment Company Names Rule, ESG Disclosures
The SEC’s Division of Investment Management will hold an open meeting via webcast on sec.gov to discuss amendments to the Investment Company Names rule and enhancements to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosures for investment advisers and investment companies on Wednesday, May 25th.
Investment Company Names
The Division will consider the following:
- revisions to the Investment Company Names rule under the Investment Company Act, which covers investment company names that may delude investors about an investment company’s investments and risks
- modifications that would include enhanced prospectus disclosure requirements for terms used in investment company names and within public reporting regarding compliance with the new names-related requirements.
ESG Disclosures for Investment Advisers and Investment Companies
The Division will also discuss whether to propose updates to rules and reporting forms for registered investment advisers, certain advisers exempt from registration, registered investment companies, and business development companies to provide standardized ESG disclosure to investors and the SEC.
The meeting is free, open for the public to attend, and will begin at 1:00 p.m. ET.
